Deforestation & Carbon
The carbon output from Deforestation accounts for 20% of all greenhouse gases, far more than any other source. Peat Swamp Forests in Borneo alone hold up to 70 times the carbon emitted annually by the combustion of fossil fuels world-wide. Yet, it has been estimated that the equivalent of a football field per minute is disappearing due to the slash and burn practices of the palm oil industry.
Our Mandate For Change
The future generations of this planet deserve more than just a “sustainable” future.
With your help, InfiniteEARTH is working towards an ABUNDANT future.
Through the long-term protection of “High Conservation Value Forests (HCVF), particularly Tropical Peat Swamp Forests, we create Carbon Offset Credits under the classification of “Avoided Deforestation” and in the process deliver long-term habit protection for some of the world’s most endangered species, including the endangered Borneo Orangutan.
InfiniteEARTH’s ‘Rimba Raya’ Reserve
“UPDATE- Sept 7, 2011 – InfiniteEARTH’S Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve receives VCS Validation”
InfiniteEARTH plans to establish the "Rimba Raya" (Infinite Forest) Reserve - Borneo, 350 square miles of virgin Tropical Rainforest in Central Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo).
The Reserve will be licensed from the Indonesian Government pending final approval in order to save it from destruction by Palm Oil Plantations. The Reserve will be co-managed by Orangutan Foundation International and provides a habitat for both wild and rehabilitated Orangutans.
